SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Yonhap) — South Korea’s government on Sunday called on North Korea to halt all provocations and stressed the latest sanctions adopted by the United Nations are a clear and unified warning by the international community.
In a statement released by the foreign ministry, Seoul made clear it fully supports the Security Council’s unanimous adoption of Resolution 2371.
It said Pyongyang must now come to the negotiation table to resolve all outstanding issues.
The ministry pointed out that the sanctions strongly condemn the recent launch of ballistic missiles and show the international community’s unified resolve not to allow such provocations to continue.
It urged Pyongyang to heed the warning and engage in talks to strive for denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
